NorthShore Sports & Wellness is pleased to be partnering with Second City Snacks.  Second City Snacks will operate a wholesale and commissary kitchen out of our facility and work to create grab and go sandwiches, wraps, and other snacks out of our facility.

Second chances come in an infinite variety of forms, but all share the same underlying quality: they involve helping someone up who has previously fallen down.  Second City Snacks believes that we have the responsibility to provide second chances, and each of us has the capacity to help lift up others.

That being the case, Second City Snacks is proud to work with The Safer Foundation in Chicago (https://saferfoundation.org) to provide second chance work opportunities for people with a justice experience.  Like The Safer Foundation, we know opportunity is key—to empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and creating a better way forward for all. Clearing the landscape of societal hurdles to those impacted by the justice system is no small task, and we are proud to give job training and work opportunities to people seeking a new path.

Second City Snacks is also proud to be working in partnership with Felicity School, a therapeutic day school in Deerfield, Illinois (www.felicityschool.com).  Felicity School is designed to serve students who are eligible for special education services in the categories of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Emotional Disability (ED; i.e. depression), Learning Disability (LD; i.e. dyslexia), and Other Health Impairment (OHI; i.e. post-traumatic stress disorder). Through integrated vocational programs, experiential learning, individualized programming, technology, and mentoring, students are provided with the resources to develop a sense of self-worth, accept responsibility, and become equipped to make healthy life choices.  

Working with Second City Snacks, Felicity students gain an understanding of ethics and values while developing a strong sense of community.  Second City Snacks is currently working with Felicity School to open the first Second City Snack Shack in Deerfield to give students training, guidance and mentoring so they have new skills and opportunities upon graduating.
